Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre is currently recruiting for a Medical Imaging Technologist in the field of radiodiagnostics to join our growing team, in our new medical imaging suite. KMHC is based in the beautiful First Nation’s reserve, Kahnawake, just 15 minutes south of Montreal. The Medical Imaging Technologist is responsible for performing general x-ray examinations on hospitalized and clinic patients. He/she will produce high quality images as required, utilize all protective radiation safeguards, and document the appropriate information in patient files.

Please note this availability/on-call position is intended for vacation and/or sick day coverage.

 

RESPONSABILITÉS

  • The Medical Imaging Technologist is responsible for the technical and clinical aspects of general radiology examinations and procedures.
  • Follow the norms de pratique of OTIMROEPMQ.
  • Enter relevant data to patient files.
  • He/she closely monitors patients, prepares and develops required medical imaging, maintains, and handles specialized radiology equipment.
  • He/she is involved in the promotion of health and the profession.
  • Adheres to KMHC’s code of ethics, philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Has attitudes and behaviors which assure the provision of safe care and services.
  • Is vigilant and takes responsibility to ensure a safe environment for all.
  • Declares all risk situations, near misses or accidents that are witnessed or discovered on KMHC premises.
  • To foster an approach to care that is respectful, compassionate and culturally appropriate and competent, responsive to the needs, values, beliefs and preferences of clients, and health care providers.

DUTIES :

  • Taking medical images of patients (film) of their skeletal structure for diagnosis and treatment purposes.
  • Calming patients down and making sure that they fully understand how the procedure works.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment by complying with processes and regulations.
  • Must have a clear understanding of how to handle and operate medical imaging equipment.
  • Good judgment, organizational skills and communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, philosophy and to organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality

 

EXIGENCES

Education/Experience:

  • Must hold a college diploma (DEC) in radio diagnostic technology from a school recognized by the appropriate ministry.
  • Must be a member of the Quebec Order of Medical Imaging, Radiation Oncology and Medical Electrophysiology Technologists.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as radiology technician in any medical facility within Canada.
  • Must have knowledge on the use of a CR machine.
  • Ultrasound experience considered an asset.

Language Skills:

  • Able to read, analyze and interpret physician’s orders.
  • Written and spoken competence in French and English are required.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, squat, kneel, bend and walk.
  • Frequently lift and/or move varied client weights and occasionally lift and/or move equipment in transport.

Other Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Indigenous people, including sound knowledge and understanding of issues impaction mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health in contemporary society.
  • The commitment to learn about Indigenous culture and language to better understand and serve the clients.
